Default 2.4l head ticking

i had just purchased an 01 stratus with the 2.4L. the car ran great untill a miss began to occur and a head ticking noise. i was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem from these engines and what the usual culprit might be. oh also was wondering how very differant these engines are from the mitsubishi 2.0 4G63s.
thank you!

74,000 and no pressure gauge to speak of but the tick gets "verbal" around 2G

I'd try an oil flush , I'm assuming you bought it used and no idea on maintenance might not have had good oil changes at intervals and the passeges are cruded up

Coupe I assume? Yes, the lash adjusters tick. They just do. The 3000gt's did it too. Best cure I have found is seafoam. Pour 1/3- 1/2 can before you change your oil (about a week) and it will free the sticky lifters. Also, I forget where I found it, but you can hold the rpms to 3k until it stops, then let it return to idle. If it comes back, repeat. It will subside for a while.

4 door sedan but if its the same engine it should work ill try the seafoam and then the rpms. i've had the same ticking in an escort with a 1.9L but it turned out to be poor maintinence but same problem. thanks and if anyone has anything else to add i'de be happy to know.

The sedan motor is no where near the same as the 4G63. The coupe motor is very similar, its engine code is 4G64, and is basically a Mitsubishi. Only other thing to make it tick is low oil or low oil pressure.

yes i realise the 4g63 and this engine are entirely differant, however was noticing that the engine looked quite mitsu to me. 4g64 sounds on the money, just couldn't remember the engine codes for those mitsu half breed engines.(gotta love um tho)
ya i'll check out the oil pressure and do some tests. mabey even remove the valve cover and take a look.
thank you

If you have the Sedan, you have the Chrysler EY7 motor, not the Mitsubishi 4G64. Mitsu and Dodge had no collaboration with the Sedan, only the Coupe.
