What to do.
Hey, my names Brandon. I drive an '05 Stratus SXT Coupeautomatic...with a 2.4L 4Banger. I am looking to make it faster and perform better, without making it a ricer. I was thinking about goin with a v6 3.0L and a 5spd tranny. But one of my buddies told me just to keep the 4Banger and turbocharge it thenswap with a 5pd tranny. What I'm tryin to figure out is which option would be the cheapest and still be the fastest while performing the best...thanks for your help.
Keep the 4cyl and enjoy getting good gas mileage mile the gov. continues to raise taxes on gas a raping us....
The 4cyl takes better to boost than the V6 takes to any other mods, so I would stick to what you have. I see complaints from 4cyl Auto owners all the time about how slow their car feels. Best thing to do is a 5 spd swap on the current motor, and add some FI if you chose to.
I assume you mean the coupe, because the sedan is way different. There was a DOHC 2.4 I4 and 2.7 V6 for the sedan, and a SOHC 2.4 I4 and 3.0 V6 for the coupe. I dont think the sedan had a 5 spd option.

pearl is right. The I4 handles boost a lot better. Some of the parts from an EVO are interchangable with you strat,I can't recall which ones those are though, I think the heads are. Also I remember pearl saying something like his 5spd can keep up with and auto V6. SO keep the 4 banger and do some FI, and you'll be set.
here is a link to the build on an eclipse...
