2001 SE Coupe -- Unable to find air intake [[Found]]
Hello, I've just joined these forums, and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me.
I'm looking for an air intake (short ram or cool air) for a 2001 Stratus SE Coupe 2.4L SOHC (Well, I assume it's SOHC, just due to the size of the timing belt cover. Wish it were little bit bigger engine, but I guess it's the best with how much gas costs). (I should note that I've never done any work on a car before, though I am technically inclined) I've looked everywhere I can think of, and am only able to find them for the R/T and SXT. From some of the pictures I've seen, the path seems rather similar, although I'm not entirely sure about the pipe dimensions. Would you be able to suggest any model #'s of short ram or cool air intakes that would fit this car? I did purchase an AEM that the auto store said was 'universal' but when I followed the path it would take, it looked like it was going to either have to protrude through the trunk (not happening) or through the engine block (again, not happening) Taking that back today haha.. I'm looking to spend about $100-300. Thank you so much for your help :]
(P.S. It would be nice if you could suggest any other compatible bolt-on mods (exhaust, etc). I'm not looking exclusively for performance nor gas mileage (it would be nice though! haha), just want to take up a hobby I never got a chance to. I've always loved cars, but never had the money to get into modding them)
Again, thank you,
Sincerely,
gpg

Oh that's perfect. Guess I should've looked at eBay Motors rather than normal ebay haha... Thank you so much, it's very much appreciated. Thanks for your fast reply too. Hmm, although, it seems like there isn't a temperature sensor on the end (or beginning) of that in the picture... Is it necessary? (Is it even a temperature sensor?) Mine looks like a black box with a grill on it with cables coming out of it, some sort of diode on the inside, that plugs into the air box and the intake line... But it's omitted in that picture :x Let me know what you think, and thanks for the help again!
Alright, thank you for your help. Hopefully I'll have better luck with this one than my first :]
Whether for the 3.0 V6 or the 2.4 I4, it will fit. R/T -SXT- SE the CAI will fit. -- pearl01stratcpe
That's interesting. Does this apply to anything else? (exhaust, etc) What Mitsubishi models are similar to this engine? (or are there only certain parts that are close. And can anyone suggest more bolt on modifications? I want to have some fun haha

Your engine is the same thing as the 2000-2005 Eclipse I4. Suspension should be the same, exhaust will need to be extended about a foot longer. You can do a rear disc conversion (ask Pearl about that one.) Just about anything you find for an eclipse will fit the 2 door coupes.

Ditto on what Nate said. I think the I4 and V6 exhausts are the similar from the catalytic converter back, though the Eclipse is 15" shorter so it will need extended. Best exhaust for cheap is the muffler delete if you can pass inspection in your state. You have 2 cats and 2 resonators, so its really not all that loud w/o the muffler.
