hello, my girlfriend owns a 2004 dodge stratus, lately when she starts it or i myself start it, the RPM's jump up to around 3000-4000, and it idles there as if you have your foot pinned on the accelerator, it just started doing this recently, also it doesnt do it all the time, but when your driving the rpm's will get stuck at 2000, and it will start to accelerate on its own, and when you stop and put it in park it will jump right back up to idling way to high, could anyone please help me and tell me what the problem is..

I'd check throttle cable for fraying , and also check that your floor mats are not hitting/preventing the throttle from returning

If it's not either of those the Idle Air Control might be the cause
