won't idle.....help plz
Ok so I have my cylinder misfire figured out. It was a broken wire under the dash where they come through the firewall. Now the only issue I have is that it won't idle. It starts fine and runs fine if ur on the gas. Another thing I find weird is when the engine is cold it idles. But when the engine is up to running temp it won't idle. I read that u can set the idle rev on the newer strats. Mine is an 03. Is it possible that I just need 2 set the idle or not. Also how do I do it. I read u do it on the dash with the trip button or sumpin. I have a road trip pland for friday afternoon so itd b nice to get this figured out soon. Help me plz

maybe this thread can explain the process... we didn't know what it did though.

If you can't duplicate the above, I can record a video of me performing the operation. That's of course if that's what it's actually for though... I have mine set to 1 right now and it seems to be driving the same as it was @ 10. Probably will try 20 to see if there's a difference... Would be interesting if it's idle speed haha

RE: won't idle.....help plz
Yes, it matters (I thought it didn't, but I was trying it recently..)
Here are the steps. I'll try to get a video, but..
1. Turn key to 'ON', and press the Odometer Dash Button several times, until it shows Odometer (not Trip A or Trip B)
2. Turn Key to 'OFF' position.
3. Push and hold the Odometer Dash Button.
4. Turn the key to the 'ON' position, while still holding the Odometer Dash Button.
5. You will hear your car chiming, for about 10 seconds, and your car's self-test lights will be illuminated. The chiming will stop, and the lights will go out. (If this does not happen, just wait 10-12 seconds)
5.5. Release the dash button, and then push it in again. You will see a '10' (or it may show a '10' even after you release, then start at '1' when you start pushing it)
6. Push the button to increment the number. You can choose one from 1-20. It will loop around if you pass the desired setting (what that may be, I have no clue..)
7. When you arrive at the desired number, push and hold the odometer dash button for several seconds, and you will see your odometer reappear.
8. Turn the car to the 'OFF' posistion for good measure, and then start it.
Note: The default setting is 10. Also, we don't know what this actually does.. whether it controls your idle speed, or makes your car fly through the air, it's beyond me. I just know how to do it (: (and it seems like maybe what you are referring to.. setting in the dash, etc..) You should probably make sure that you have checked other things... Have you run fuel injector cleaner recently? If you're low on gas and you did, you may be getting more cleaner than fuel, which will cause you to idle out (that happened to me this past weekend). Just a thought ^^
Hope this helps, and I'll see what I can do about the video, but it will just tell you how to do it, now what it does :]
