Default skipping problem

I recently Change the valve cover gasket seals on my 2004 2.7L Dodge Stratus. Appearently i had a lot of oil in the Spark plugs. That's Done. Here's my problem, I Drove from beaufort SC to Walterboro SC (50-60 Miles to and from) on I95. The car drove fine. On my way back The Car started Skipping about 2 to 3 times per minute. I was doing about 75 MPH. Once i got half way to beaufort the car started skipping real bad and i could not accelorate more than 40MPH. When i got in beaufort, it got worse and i couldnt Accel past 30MPH and when i stop the car kept Trying to shut off. Plus the engine light came on. We rechecked the sparkplugs, but no oil were on it. i had the car read by the dianostic computer and it said Camshaft position Sensor. so we replaced the CMP and everything seem fine but when went on a long distance drive non stop, the same thing happened. Can anybody relate or any suggestions

I'd replace the wires , the oil can really screw with them especially when they get hot ...

I have to piggy back this thread so thank you pdrworldwide for posting this thread . I just registered and haven't seen the start thread icon. My situation is similar but I have codes to work with. I have not replaced the sensors yet but one code is weird. I have a haynes book and the first code is a mix of 2 codes they list. Any help would be appreciated.

code :
p 1684
p 0340
p 0351
p 1391
p 1193

I will try the plug wires. Anything besides wires and and sensors to you guys?

im headed out right now, but if you google "Dodge p1684"...and so on...youll be able to find out what those codes are...if that doesnt help, ill try to give my two cents when im back...unless someone else here knows what they are, and can fill you in.. that first code, i believe is an air temp sensor issue.

If you're seeing that many sensor codes at one time, chances are it's not the components, look at the harness grounds ( probably a blue wire) I was having similar trouble with my '06 T&C 3.3. It would do the same thing intermittently, and after extensive research and many replaced components I have found this to be a common problem with FWD wiring harnesses. I found the break in a factory splice where the harness splits to circle the rear of the motor. Apparently Chrysler can't afford solder for splices and instead uses a glue and shrink wrap method. I have some pics of the actual location and splice i will post up later.
