1996 2.0L ATX - remote door opener
Has 1996 2.0L ATX Plymouth Breeze
Previous owner had remote door opener installed. Power door works fine - only remote piece is not working. It stopped working. Transmitters are fine (there are 2... none of them work). I need to find out what is wrong and fix it.

Questions fro the group:
- Where would the receiver typically have been installed? (door/trunk?)
- What does a receiver typically look like (size?)
- What wires are involved?
- What fuses would be involved?
Way too many variables here. First off, the reciever or module is usually under the dashboard. Most professional installers will take parts of the dash out to conceal it, so just looking may not show it. Second, to determine what is wrong with it, we would need to know what kind we're dealing with, if your car had power locks origionally, or if actuators were installed, which fuses it's taped (might even be in-line fuses) into can vary widely depending on the installer and their practice. If you can get a picture or at least the numbers from the back of the remotes you have (maybe batteries in both have died?) we can probably help find out what you're dealing with.

Thanks!
I will get more information about the remotes and post it.

Ok, so the remote is a two button black box.
On the back is the following:
Des. 347,190
800-274-0200
FCC ID: H5LAL777A
Googling the 1-800 number I concluded that the remote (and, therefore, presumably the remote door opener) is from Directed Electronics (http://www.directed.com), makers of Viper. That, however, is all I know.
Problem Synopsis: The remote door opening is no longer working (the remote seems to be fine, still having power (red light) and having had the battery changed), and I am trying to figure out what receiver/controller is installed in the car and where it is located so I can check its status (looking, for instance, for shorts or shorted out fuses). Any help is appreciated.

you might be best helped by hopping onto a forum for Directed products. It is possible that if the battery was disconnected for a long while, the module has "forgotten" the remotes. It's also possible that it was disconnected to resolve a starter-kill situation, as it's most likely part of an alarm system. As stated before, the box can be installed pretty much anywhere, but is most likely up underneath and inside the driver side dash. Every installer has their own ways of doing the install as far as where everything is tapped into, which fuses or even if they are "inline".
Best of luck!
