OK...maybe I wasn't specific enough last time. The Stratus 2.7 starts rough and only sounds worse when you rev it at idle. The noise is more apparent inside the car as opposed to standing in front with the hood up. When you drive and accelerate, it still sounds rough and choppy until you reach about 35-40 mph or more. When you let your foot off the gas the noise and rough feel comes back. On a hard acceleration on the highway it's as smooth as it was when new. Is this a transmission problem? Somebody, please clue me in before I have to spend $100 on a diagnostic.

 

is this a mechanical noise ? like parts smacking together ?

 

Sounds like sludge man....the 2.7's were and are notorious for those problems..
