Can I remove the upper timing belt cover on a 2002 Dodge Stratus DOHC 2.4L engine to inspect the timing belt? Will that tell me if the belt has broken or is shredded? And is it a difficult job to do so?

Also, could a broken belt cause the camshaft position sensor to spit out a P0340 error code?
