Default plugs and wires

gonna do a tune up on my car...2003 dodge stratus 2.4L DOHC 4 cyl...going to use champion copper plus the gap is .040 but under the hood calls for .050 gap which is the correct gap or they both correct....pulled the old plugs old plugs are champion dont know what type they are, noticed the ceramic terminal is all brown like its burnt, like getting to hot and the spark wires are 6-7 yrs old, they look good from the outside.on the wires it says....2002 MOPAR 24.can the wires be causing the plug to get hot

Go by whats under the hood. and ask the parts place for champion plugs that fit this car. Also have an old plug to match up to the new one, you don't want to make alot trips to get the right parts.
