Default 2004 Stratus revs up when started

I have a 2004 Stratus sedan with the 2.4l engine. When I start it up the engine continues to rev up on its own. I've checked all the vacuum lines and electrical connections and they seem to be ok. Could a faulty idle air control valve cause this problem or is it likely something else?

Just an update. I wasn't able to get a scanner on it to gather all the data but I did manage to get an error code from the car's computer. It is p0068 which I understand means an MAF/MAP sensor throttle position correlation problem. Am I correct in reading this as meaning the MAP sensor needs to be replaced? I had someone else tell me it could also be the throttle position sensor but wouldn't that have given another or different code?

I found out a small plastic piece had broken off of the IAC and was keeping it from moving in and out freely. When I removed the piece it started to run just fine. Most people told me the main things that could cause it otherwise would be either the map sensor or the throttle position sensor.
