how to remove governor
which intake? the intake plenum or the intake piping? some of the 02 RTs had the governor, some did not. some still had the ECU from the 01 models, and evidently yours is one of the 02 ECUs...what is it governed to? like 135? the only way you can remove the governor is to get an 01 ECU, or so im told, or get stand alone fuel management, which can be a pain.
ok, number one is the intake plenum. replacing this is helpful, but fairly difficult, and always expensive. Very expensive.
number two is in air intake, common called a cold air intake (CAI) or short ram intake (SRI).
changing to a CAI can boost your horsepower, and while on some cars you may get as much as 15 hp, that is a very high end estimate...expect maybe 5-8, with a K&N filter, on a 3 inch CAI. but this will not help your top speed, since youre governed.
ECU is engine control unit. it is what is governing your car. you would need to get an aftermarket ECU to do away with the speed limiter and they are hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, and on a stock RT, not really worth it.
