A/C indicator light
Hi All! I'm sure you get this quite often, but despite what I read... I'm still a bit confused.
I'm sure this question has been asked, but what does a flashing AC light indicator mean?
On and off, I've seen it flash. Usually, when I restart the car, the problem goes away for a long while (weeks). Today, I was defrosting, and I guess I must have turned the AC on when I turned the dial to full and it started flashing. It continued to blow the hot air, like nothing was wrong.
Also, when it does flash, and I turn the dial to cold air, the AC DOES kick on.
So I'm a bit confused.
I had the AC line repaired this summer (there had been a hole in it), and I had the system recharged. The compressor, I'm told, was fine.
The dealer, because my car is a 2001, wants me to bring it in and have a diagnostic done (costing me $ 150.00).
Any thoughts?

From what I have seen, a flashing A/C light means a bad compressor.
The A/C and the defroster use the compressor, so you didnt accidentally turn the A/C on :P
I no nothing about heating and cooling other than that.
