Default Help: P0420 & P0430

I have a stock 2006 Dodge Stratus with 49k miles on it.

Ive got the code p2098, with 2 pending codes, p0420 and p2098

ive replaced all 4 o2 sensors, dealer replaced the catalytic converter on bank 2, and reset all codes and they came back.

yes the battery was disconnected when the new o2 sensors were installed.

i did take my car to my uncle who has been in the trade for many years, he could not find a vacume leak, nor exhaust leak. he almost guarenteed me that the other catalytic converter was bad. the only thing he could point out was the wistle made by the alternater which he said was normal on alot of newer cars. (only made during a high idle)

All three codes listed refer to the cat, or an exhaust leak, especially if your o2 sensors were just replaced recently. Check for leaks, than see about replacing the cat.

I had the catalytic converter replaced on bank 2, just not bank 1. could it be the converter in bank one?

Why did they only replace one cat. if it has failure codes for both? I would definely start with that. Otherwise your looking for a leak (cracked manifold or leak between the machined surfaces).

If there is a crack, it usually leaves black staining around it. You can cover the tail pipe and listen for hissing. It would have to be a good leak to set a cat failure code.

This may sound silly, but did you unplug the negative terminal of the battery after you got the work done? Leaving it off for about 10 minutes should reset the ECU. Sometimes things 'store' there until it gets reset.
