My neighbor hooked up a computer to my car because it won't start. We got a 1391 code but can't find out what means. Does anyone know what this code means?
P1391 Intermittent loss of CMP (camshaft position) or CKP (crankshaft position). Out of curiosity how many miles on your car? Also what type of engine in your car? Please let us know...
Checked with my mechanic and he said it could be the fuel pump, that it sounded more like a fuel problem than the crank or cam shaft sensors not working. He checked it out and it is the fuel pump, which I'm glad because I can find those cheaper than the cam & crank sensor.
Connie I'm not so sure, no disrespect to your mechanic but when the computer throws out P139code I would check the sensors/timing belt first and not the fuel pump. Not to say I wouldn't check fuel delivery but the Fuel pump can be checked relatively easy by putting the key into the on position while not starting or cranking the car. It should make a whirly type sound when you do that. Also the labor and parts involved in changing a fuel pump seems to me like it would cost a whole lot more than changing a 30-40 dollar sensor that can be reached relatively easily under the hood. Please make sure this mechanic is not taking you for a ride. Fuel pumps can be expensive. Please let us know....
