Talking 2002 stratus coolent bleeder valve

i have a startus that runs hot on the freeway. its full with coolent and the old owner changed the radiator i heard they have a bleeder valve but cant find it. the good old haynes book not very exact on the location it says its on the water neck it doesnt look like it is. just cant see it??? its a 2.4 sohc any idea where its located. Is there anyone that has had a similar problem or idea cause i still cant figure it out. i have tried driving with the heater on. no matter what it still goes close to 75% of the way up(hot). the car is originaly from alaska then went to New Mexico now i have it in phoenix az its 110 to 120 degree right now. is the thermostat the same (as any other stratus) or hotter? is the car suposed to be running that hot. thanks for your time.

The bleeder is usually in or around the thermostat housing. It generally looks like a grease zerk. Remove it to bleed the system. I would definitely look into the thermostat. Make sure the coolant reservoir is full. When the engine cools it draws coolant back into the radiator. If the overflow is empty with a cold engine it suggests that the cooling engine draws air into the radiator causing an air pocket. Also check the radiator cap. I think yours is vented. If someone changed the cap with an unvented cap it will cause problems.
