2001 R/T Auto Tranny Slip
I have a 2001 R/T with right around 86k.
I just bought the car about 2 months ago. And it has developed some issues that I can only chaulk up to the trans axle. In the morning went shes cold the car will slip from 2-3nd. It's not a big slip (about 500 rpm) makes no "chunk" and rarely on only a few occasions slips "semi hard." The slips seem to be getting more regular but less and less severe. It also will make a faint continuous sound when it is in reverse or drive that goes away after the drive to work. The tranny only slips under normal driving conditions. When I get on it she doesn't slip.
Two local trans shops weren't able to pull any codes except for a EGR circuit code and occasional a TPS code that seems to be elusive. I'm sure the TPS is malfunctioning because it idles high after it has been sitting at about 1100rpms. (NO TRANS CODES)
My question is; has anyone experienced this and could the shifting problems be a result of the TPS malfunctioning.
Belive me something serious is happening because.......my roomates' eclipse gt beat me......sob
Any suggestions?

I have the same vehicle 01 R/T, and a few months ago I had the same problem. Small slips, but nothing major.... at first. Few weeks later It got worse on some day's, and running like normal others up to a point where it never happened again for quite some time.
About a week ago I was driving along all happy like, going into 3rd gear, I noticed it lagged quite a while and the RPM's shot up 1k than normal before I eased up on the gas and my car leaped into 3rd gear with the neutral light flashing and an engine light came on. I pulled over because something was obviously wrong.
I tried to get moving again, but it seemed like my car was stuck in a higher gear from stop. I moved the shifter from automatic to the manual (where you can shift from 1st-4th) and it was at at 3rd. I could manually shift from 2nd-3rd, but couldn't get to 1st or 4th, while in automatic it stayed in 3rd. In both positions the neutral light was flashing. Reverse worked fine, but shifting from any position (P,R,N,D) had a lag, rpm's shot up to 2k5 than normal, followed by a small jolt of the car.
I got home and turned it off and started it again. It was running back to normal, but shifting into drive had the same effect, but no flashing neutral. I drove around the block and when I got from 2nd to 3rd, the same event took place, along with the flashing neutral.
I just got my car back from a Cottman Transmission shop and they diagnosed my car to having a faulty "Turbine Input Sensor" (he avoided telling me the name of the sensor until after I paid for the work $276). My car was thrown into a fail safe mode when stuck in 3rd gear. Now it's working like normal. Sorry for the long story, and I hope your situation doesn't come down like mine, but hope it heeds as a warning instead of a planned set of event's that you will experience.

yeah I’ve been reading up on them. I don’t think that’s the issue. Since it’s throwing solenoid codes I’m gonna replace those and put fresh fluid in. See what happens.
