Caliper sticking even after Caliper Rotor & Pad replacement?
Noticed smoke coming from the rear passenger tire the other day. Took it home to find that my caliper piston was cracked and I couldn't push the piston in. So the next day I went out and brought new calipers, new rotor and brake pads. I installed them and bled the system. Thought everything was good, noticed a little resistance in the same wheel after turning it but didn't really think nothing of it. Wife drove the car about ten miles come back tells me she smelled something funny. I walked over to the right rear tire and noticed the same acrid smell of brake pad over heating! Put the car in the garage. Took the tire off. Inspected the parts. Had my buddy step on the brakes. To my chagrin it seemed as though the caliper was sticking after the brake pedal was released! Now mind you I put a new caliper in! Dang!!
So was wondering if anyone had any idea of what could be causing my caliper to stick after releasing the brake pedal?

It's possible you have a partially collapsed brake hose. The pressure will open it when you apply the brakes, but collapse back in and not let the fluid return to the master cylinder. Essentially locking the brake on.
I am having this same issue on our 2008 caravan. Replaced rear calipers, pads, and rotors and now passenger side is seized up. While I was bleeding that side, the piston came out a little and fluid stopped in the tube and piston did not retract. I will replace the hose and see if that's it. I have never done it. Any tips?
just to throw this out there...
the rear wheel antilock pump died in my van...no codes...no lights...just a pedal that almost went to the floor
after pads, rotors, hoses etc...I finally broke down and when to my tech...
he found that the ABS was not working...we bypassed the pump using unions and the brakes have been fine since...
I also did find out that the rotors...esp replacements -- some are NOT THICK ENOUGH...they are not built to spec...when I found a paid for rock auto that was right, the brakes felt right...
good luck
