Default Harmonic Balancer

Hello,

My 97 Plymouth Breeze is having a slight issue. The car is running fine, but the harmonic balancer seems to be wobbling and causing the belt to squeek. I am not driving it. But I want to know if anyone has had to replace one on either their dodge, plymouth, or chrysler between the years of 95-'00

If any questions you might have are needed to help, please ask and I'll give you as much information as possible.

Regards,
Matt

Most harmonic balancers are a steel center hub and an outer ring containing the pulley grove. They are bonded together with thick rubber. The rubber does rot. The pulley is keyed to the crankshaft. Make sure you properly put the key back in. Sometimes they are bitch to get off, or there isn't enough room for the puller.

I looked for the part, Harmonic Balancer and found it. All it looks like is the pulley. Would there be something else that should come along with it or??

Also, If need be I could loosen the motor mounts put the motor on a stand (or 3) and jack the car up to get the puller off.

How much will pull out? 3" 6"?

I understand that I would have to make DAMN sure that I don't allow the harmonic balancer to turn at all or the timing will get screwed. Also, when you say keyed, what do you mean by that? Is that the fastener that holds the Balancer to the Shaft?

Last but most importantly, would I just be replacing the pully?

Thanks for the help guys. It runs great. Now I am just looking for some help with my 2000 Stratus 2.4l dohc the damn dummy light that looks like a battery came on. The car runs fine, occasionally the lights will dim, then brighten but it isn't affecting the drivability. I am going to check the wires from the alternator see if any have corroded and also see if the battery has any corrosion on it tomorrow. Hopefully that will work.

I was told it might be the voltage regulator inside the alternator? sound right at all?

The regulator is in the PCM. Chrysler hasn't had a regulator outside the PCM in many years.
