Not sure why you're asking, since you are the all knowing Sapporo.
But I'll offer up what I think might be the case anyways, for the overall good of the community here.
Most likely scenario is the solenoid pack or gasket is failing. Most likely is the gasket leaking, possibly internally. This gasket is no longer sold seperately, even in the aftermarket. It detects it can't shift into 3rd, and drops to 2nd gear, and locks in place, as a failsafe. This is "Limp Home Mode", and is designed let you get to a safe place for a tow or to a garage.

IDK nothing that's why I'm asking for help. I replaced the solenoid, both speed sensors, fluid, filter and all. still goes 1-2 fine on initial start, tries 3rd engine rpms flair, no 3rd, trans drops to 2nd and stays stuck in 2nd until i restart the car. what gasket could be failing? any other ideas what could be the problem? autozone only gave me a code of P0700.
