Default 2003 Tranny Issue or CV Axle

We changed the CV axle and when I turn it by hand, I can feel resistance until a spot where it turns free for about an inch, and then it goes back to having resistance. Not sure if it's related to the CV axle, or the transmission.

Any help will be appreciated.

I think thats normal but I'm not sure. I just installed mine and I believe the same thing happens to me. Everything seems to be okay on my install. Maybe someone here can shed some light as to how that actually works. ...

So what your saying is that there should be a spot when I turn the CV axle it should have free play in it for about an inch worth of turning, and feel resistance for the remainder of the time. When it drives, with no load on the drive train it's fine, when I put it under a load and try to take off, I get a grinding sound from the drivers side of the vehicle. I just can't figure out what it is? Not sure if it's the CV Axle or the tranny.
