2000 Dodge Stratus Puzzling Problem???
Hey guys i need help with this car. It is a 2.5l Stratus. When i got the car i had to replace the fuel neck, fuel filter, distributor, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor( within the last 5 months). I also had one of my plugs that i just put in go out so i had to replace one more. Well i am getting a CEL code P0420. When the car drives in the rain it has the tendency to shut completely off. It has happened to me 3x already. I am not sure what i should replace next. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Josef
That code is for low catalytic converter efficiency on bank #1 (exhaust side for cylinder #1) meaning the convert is losing it's ability to store oxygen. I wouldn't think this problem is related to the car shutting down unless the convert is plugged maybe.
This code doesn't necessarily mean your catalytic converter is bad. It may also be the O2 sensor that comes after the converter isn't working correctly. To determine which component in the emmission system is the problem, you should take it to a technician who can properly diagnos the issue.
