Sorry for the bad news. Not all engine will have the same faith. Its a very good chance that when the short block is replace, you won't have anymore problems. But there is a bright side.The shop that has been trying to find the problem now knows, what is wrong with the seal that keeps popping out. Do you know if you still have powertrain warranty?

The problem years with any of the 2.4 engine started around 2005 and up 2009. But the problem started a long time ago with the 3.3L From 1990 thru 1995. And the Fords 4.6L From 1992 thru 1994, the last time i work for ford at the time. So its not just dodge with the walking crankshaft, The 2001 PT should be okay. The crank seal would started leaking around 10 to 20k on mileage.

No I don't have any warranty so do u kno where is a good place to purchase the new engine or should I-trust the shop in getting it?
