Default Help w/ Retrieving Fault Codes from a '99 Stratus

Hello,

I was just wondering how to retrieve the fault codes from my '99 stratus... I have seen people mention the key method (3x off-ign) for other years and models, but it doesnt seem to be working in my stratus. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or maybe there is another way for that year, so I thought I would double check amongst the dodge experts here.

I hear that autozone will gladly retreive any codes you have with your car.

You need a OBD-2 scanner for a 1999. The 3X/on-off does not work on that model year.

Start with the key off, and doors closed.
Turn ignition switch from off to on [do not crank].
3 times and leave in the on position.
The check engine warning lamp will flash out 2 digit codes.
Normally starting with code 12 and 55[end of report] with the
malfunction code[s] in between. Take careful note of the timing between flashes (long/short), as it may not be consistent.

'95 is odbI, with an odbII plug, and requires a special scanner.
'96-00 should flash the check engine light.
'01+ should display P#### codes in the odometer.
