Default 1995 Stratus - Need Help

I recently bought a 95 stratus to use as a runner for work. Ran great when I test drove it, but after I drove it off the lot it's been nothing but a headache. 2 vacuum leaks have been fixed, rear brakes replaced, and last week I replaced the MAP sensor. After I replaced the sensor it ran fine for about 3 days (200 miles), but now it's acting up again. When I first start it in the morning it will only run for about 10 seconds then shuts off. Starts right back up...but then I get a couple miles down the road and then I can feel it miss...usually just once...then runs fine the rest of the way. Basically same symptoms it was having before I replaced the sensor. It has also stalled while rolling up to a stop sign.

I'm guessing this is another vacuum leak...but is there an underlying issue that could be causing these leaks?

Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to DF
Have you been able to pull any codes when this problem has happen? And do you have a 2.4 or a 2.5 engine?

2.5 engine. The most recent code was to replace the MAP sensor. Did that, ran fine for a few days, now acting up again. I'm bringing it to the shop on Monday so hopefully they'll be able to pull another code.

It's been doing the same thing since day 1. Idle for a short time after starting, then shuts off. It always starts right back back up and usually only quits once, but then when I get down the road a few miles it will miss, or jerk, then runs fine the rest of the way. Very frustrating.

I don't know if this as anything to do with it as I'm by no means an expert on cars, but it started acting up again shortly after I set the cruise control for the first time after the sensor was replaced. Maybe that was just a coincidence? Maybe it's just another leak, or a bad sensor...I don't know.

Brought it to a Chrysler dealer today...wish I would've done this sooner. Ended up being a pretty easy fix. They did a factory reflash and discovered a module that was supposed to have been updated a while back, but wasn't. They were confident this would take care of the issue...keeping my fingers crossed.

If that flashing doesn't do anything, you may want to pull the plugs and wires. The 2.5 is known to develop bad valve cover gaskets. If any oil is leaking down around the plugs, it could be pooling and causing a slight miss, than burning off after running for a bit. It's a bit of a pain getting the rear valve cover, but it's not really difficult work.

That's great advice and I really appreciate it...

Since the flashing took place it no longer stalls while idling after start-up, however during my 30 mile commute to work it will cut out once after driving it about 20 miles. Just a slight miss...nothing major, more annoying than anything.

Do you think oil pooling could be causing that? It's worth checking out anyway...thanks again

It could. You can remove a wire from the from valve cover and look down into the plug hole. Do you see oil?
