Default '00 2.5L Misfire on 3&6

I'm chasing a SEL for Mis-fire on 3&6. Had this engine used coil packs I would replace the coil or check the ignition module or check for possible broken wire. However it uses a distributor so I'm at a loss besides possibly a bad lash adjuster since they clatter when cold. So far it's had a full tune-up of plugs, wires, cap, rotor. I could suspect the distributor, but how would that repeatedly throw a 3/6 code every time. Could it just be a generic code and I just need to check out the lash adjusters? I wish I had an OBDII setup so I can watch timing in case it's picking up knock and pulling timing to the point of causing misfires. This was the scenario I figured could be caused by the lash adjusters being possibly collapsed.

This problem only happens on the interstate(65-75mph) after about 20 minutes of driving. The SEL somehow went out on it's own this time after a few days.

Has thrown an O2 code in the past but I never replaced the sensor and have not seen the code in almost 2 years since. Replacement of crank position sensor did not affect this issue, but it did fix others for driveability.

Do you have the odbii setup you wanted to hookup? I ask because the '95 is the only stratus that's NOT odbii, '96+ are all compliant. What you may want to check is that there is no oil around the plugs, the valve cover gaskets are a weak point on the 2.5.

I looked in the wells when I did the plugs and there was one that had a film of oil. All the others were dry.

So far on another forum the distributor has been suggested. I'm not sure if the ignition control module is removable from the distributor so it can be tested. It looked like a complete unit to me though.
