Default starting problem

02 stratus r/t 3.0L

ok the low is, i was driving on the hwy and then my car stalled out as soon as i turned and pushed the gas. i tried to start it again and nothing happened, u can smell gas and i bought new plugs, wires and distributor cap, nothing. so i took off the cap to see if the distributor rotor was spinning......nothing so i took it off to see if it was broken its not. it throws spark but doesnt spin, so how do i fix it, when i crank it is sounds normal so the cams not broke, is my compression off??? does that mean the motor is gone, i need major help.

Timing belt broke? unforunately I think the 3.0l is a interference motor... Even if it is not, I believe the timing belt on that engine is very painful to do.

Dana, are you helping dillon, is this same vehicle. Does it crank over easier and faster then it used to? If so take the advice of streak and check timing belt? I' not sure if you can see the rockers, but take off oil fill cap and look in at rocker arms, if you can see them have some one crank engine over and see if they are turning. If they're not turning the belt is broke.

It could be the coil, it could be the crank sensor, or it could be a bad PCM. If a scanner is availible, i recommend you to pull codes, if any, and look at the RPM data when it is cranking.

youi said you changed a lot of stuff but i didn't see where you change the rotor, you also said the rotor wasnt turning, take cap off and make sure rotor isn't spinning on shaft, and make sure its good too. that can cause a no start, if its ok and doesn't spin on shaft, and rotor doesn't turn when cranking engine, then probably have a timing belt issue
