Default RE: Hey look what I found

the torque convertor has nothing to do with the shift points. the way that a fluid driven automatic trans works is that between the "gears" in the transmission and cranktshaft, there is a drum filled with trans fluid, and at low rpms in gear, the wheels arent turning, as the trans gears arent being turned but that drum still it turning. the drum is designed to spin with the crank, and at a given rpm, the convertor "engages" and begins to turn the internals of the transmission. when you buy a "high stall" convertor, it takes more engine rpm for the TC to "engage" and turn the trans internals...thats all that it does.

the stall rpm of most modern street cars is aroundf 2000 give or take a few hundred rpm. having a more aggressive convertor, like the 4000 stall in the mirada helps because when i launch, im well into my peak rpm range. for instance...the mirada is making peak power from 3300-6500rpm, which is where the camshaft is in its peak range so when i launch at 2000 rpm (stock TC) i am accelerating at less power as im not into the desired range for the camshaft..however, once i get to 3300, the car would REALLY take off...now, with the 4000 stall, im well into my powerband before the car moves.

with the RT, the powerband is a little lower, obviously...i would say that it really pulls well around 2500-2800 or so. so if you have a 2500 stall, youre in (or much closer to) the peak powerband. so a more "aggressive" torque convertor allows you to launch at a more ideal point in your powerband, but at the same time, its not good for fuel mileage...because where a normal car is already accelerating at 2000rpm, your engine has to rev to 2500 before the car will move. this also causes the trans to build more internal heat, so like the mirada, an aftermarket trans cooler helps to avoid burning the trans out faster than usual.

as for ripp, all i see is quiafes and clutches...how about a link to the stall? i know that exile makes ALOT of them for the 1st gen coupes, but i havent seen one for the 2g coupes...i was just looking, and i cant find one for the 01+?

if it fits, it would make a big difference...im sure of it. however, im not certain that it will fit a 2g coupe, as they specialize in the 1st gen coupes...and they even mention 95-96 models....try writing them if youre thinking about getting one. i wrote them about some rotors last week, and still havent heard back...

As for lowering, most of the r/t owners I've consulted including myself went with eibach pro kit, there is a sport kit that lowers a little more, but the pro kit did a nice job of eliminating the gap between wheel and body without going with a larger wheel to limit the already terrible turn radius of these cars. Thumps pics show them pretty nicely with stock rims. They claim an inch and half, but it's more like 2 in the front and 1 in the back, just from standing back and looking that is. They should run under 300 no matter where you look, I think I went right off the eiback usa website and paid like 275 after shipping.

For the pillar go to ur local auto place like auto zone or whatever is around u and they usually sell a universal pillar u just have to trim up then go to speedhut.com and u can custom design ur gauge pods to match the color scheme of ur car they also let u design ur actual gauges too

Hi everyone. I have a friend with an '04 Stratus SXT Coupe. I'm looking for aftermarket/euro/altezza tail lights, I've searched all over and haven't seen anything on the web. Do these exist? Thanks for any help!

Short answer...no. They do not exist and probably never will since they don't even make the car anymore.
