Default Popping Noise

Hello, I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T with about 97,000 mi and I hear a popping noise when I'm accelerating at low speeds. When I press on the gas pedal it will start to make the popping noise and it almost seems like its backfiring. I also hear it when I come to a stop. It seems like it's in the front on the driver's side.

I don't hear the noise when I'm revving the engine in park or when I'm coasting at high speeds like on a highway. It doesn't happen when turning either.

I keep up with oil changes and recently had my spark plugs and wires replaced and that didn't seem to solve the problem. On some occasions, the noise will go away if it's been driven for a long time - half hour or longer.

Thanks for any help!
