01 R/T coupe auto stick tranny slipping
well the title says it all. i have an 01 r/t coupe with an autostick and the tranny is slipping. i noticed it when i came to the first stop sign exiting my neighborhood. when i stopped it felt like i dropped it in neutral and when i took off no power i actually started to roll backwards for about a second. after trying to go forward for that second the car jerked and the tranny kicked in and i started moving. even in autostick it does this and it slips on up gear changes too. the fluid is red but the distance from my house to work isnt enough to get everything completely up to temp. when i checked the fluid after a 7 minute/5 mile trip is felt cool and was in the normal range. could it be something simple like the lever position sensor or a engine or tranny sensor or am i more then likely looking at a new tranny? the car has 107k miles on it and has been regularly serviced. no check engine codes or flashing console lights.
sorry for the no caps and stuff im doing this on my phone.

is that something easy or cheap to fix? if its more then a couple hundred dollars then im gonna sell the car cause i just cant afford it more then that to fix it and ill use what ever i can get and use it as a down payment on something much newer. dont get me wrong i like this car alot, but i just dont have the money or time to be out a vehicle for more then a couple days.
You will have to pull the transmission out of the car and have it worked on internally.
I could be wrong and it might be something else, but the wave spring issue is somewhat common on the Auto V6 3.0's, and the same symptoms you described are those of a failing wave spring.

it gets even stranger. i just got through driving it locally and getting it up to temp. at full normal temp it drives fine. 1st gear seems alittle... weak.. but that could be me being paranoid right now, the only noticeable thing at temp is that when i pull it from neutral to reverse the rpms go up dramatically like all loading is being taken off the engine or im revving it slightly but then the drop immediately into the pocket. even with it cold here at work after i started it no slipping, it did do some weird shifting things just at first but that may have been traffic too. it seems to behave fine in auto stick which it didnt either. any ideas now?
ok, after doing some research and talking to a tranny shop they said since it happened and then didnt they though it wasnt mechanical and was probably a sensor, specifically the turbine speed sensor. is it called something else? i cant seem to find it on any of the major autoparts manufacturers websites with that name. also there is a sensor that has a 5+ wire connector on the top of the tranny under the breather assembly that in my car looks oil soaked. (i know it had a hose leak in that general area before i bought it) so is that the above mentioned/asked about sensor? could that being wet/oil soaked cause my problems? if it isnt the sensor then what is that sensor and where is this turbine sensor and where can i buy one and is it hard to install?
You can browse through here to see if you can locate those parts. http://tearstone.com/eclipsefsm/23A.PDF

how do i change the tranny fluid filter? im trying the simple things first just in case before i go buying 100+ dollar sensors or start considering a rebuild. everything ive read points to a fluid issue, either the pump crapping out although from what ive read its a it works or doesnt kind thing, a clogged filter, debris in the fluid causing cloggage(very unlikely), or a sensor that is on its way out since its a sensor not a switch.
so since the fluid is in good shape and full the next step is the off chance its the filter. then ill go from there.
its diffucult because this problem now varies in severity and in frequency with no real defining common circumstances.
