2004 Stratus Sedan off a Repo. PROBLEMOS!
2.7 engine
100,000 miles on it
got it off a repo a few days ago. I put fresh gas in it checked the oil and topped it off. topped off the coolant and fired it up.
ran rough for a bit untill it burned off the sediment that had sat around the lifters. Ran some seafoam through the gas and through one of the vacuum lines on top ot the intake manifold.
So now it runs real rough and dies alot. I figure next thing to do is replace the air filter and get the fluids drained and replaced.
I took the filter off and it has oil in it and the vacuum lines have white gunk (oil and water?) in them. The hose im talking about splits and one goes to the pcv? and the other to the rear into a small elbow fitting.
Im hoping this is just a clogged pcv valve which im going to replace tonight and try again.
But im wondering am I looking at a much bigger problem?
The engine blows blue smoke off the exhaust manifold and out the exhaust while its running and it never gets hot so i don't think its a head gasket. Also the coolant doesnt foam and the oil looks good.
Any Ideas?

Also anyone have a how to for the moto mount swap?
I know its pretty much jack the car up and support the engine while taking the motor mounts out but I like to look at things before I actually do them.
Thanks!

The 2.7 is known for sludging, even when cared for properly. Make sure that the oil pressure is in the proper range too. Blue smoke I take to mean that it's burning oil pretty badly, so you may want to also check that the valve cover gaskets are in good shape and not leaking. You may even find oil in the spark plug tubes, which could cause a very rough running. Is it throwing any codes on you?
Thank You Ratsttam
it runs decent when its not moving but the minute you put it under load it bogs down and dies.
I have replaced the PCV valve and the air filter and it runs alot better now. I also cleaned the hoses.
The valve covers should probably come off as well as the intake manifold.
The way its dieing seems to indicate a sensor problem for me. Im going to see if the MAP ICV and a few other sensors are bad.
and unfortunately I cant get it to someone with a reader as it won't make it out of my development without stalling.
How bad is the intake manifold and valve cover to remove?
I have looked for a DIY video or a walkthrough but haven't found one yet.
can you point me in the right direction.

There is a pretty good selection of handheld scanners available to read the "basic" odbii codes. Come to think of it, there is a procedure to have them displayed right there on odometer. I can safely assume that the check engine light is on? Look for "KeyDance" on here, you'll get your codes
nope no check engine light.
I really want to see if I can get the valve covers off so i can scrape the gunk out of them.
I have a local guy going to come take a look at the car with his scanner.
Hopefully he will be able to give me a list off of the codes.
