3.0 trouble?
hi im new to the forum and to be honest im a powerstroke guy, but my girlfriend has a 2002 dodge stratus rt with the 3.0 v6. i have been told that these motors are prone to throwing a rod at about 110k miles. she is right at 95k so i was wanting to know is this true and if so what is the best way to head it of. i have put on a cold air kit and a full exhaust, thats about it for performance mods the rest is cosmetic. any help would be great.
Welcome to DF
I have never heard of the 3.0L engines just throwing rods at 110k. And I have a 1996 avenger with the 2.5L, Which is the same motor. And I haven't had any problems.

I agree, ive been around this platform 6 years now on a few forums and never heard of that happening. My buddy hit 200k recently! On the automatics, theres a part inside called a wave spring that is thin, and if it breaks, which is common, the trans is junk. They make an upgraded spring but you need to take the car to a transmission shop. Other than that get the timing belt changed and itll be a great car.
