I have searched this site and the internet and have yet to find a thread with my specific issue. Any insight is truly appreciated.

Tranny went out while my wife was driving. Here are the symptoms. No reverse, will start in D but goes out when attempting to shift. Drives fine in L. There is a CEL but I dont have a reader and driving in L to the closest place to get codes is not very feasible. Fluid level is good, no odor and red. Tranny filter replaced, no help. I am thinking it is the control solenoid but wanted to ask yall's opinion before I spend any money. If anyone in the Silverhill, AL area that has a code reader would help me out I would compensate you with some cold beer. Thank you for reading and your assistance.

 

Could be anything,its in limp mode most likely to prevent further damage hopefully unfortunately a regular code reader wont usually tell you transmission codes just gives you a code 700 (generic code for transmission), have to go some where with a drblll scanner dealer or transmission shop to access those codes
