I am attempting to remedy a problem on my fiance's 04' Stratus 3.0 RT so bear with me as I do not know much about this car and have to trouble shoot based on what she tells me and what little I have seen.

The car seems to have an intermittent problem and I suspect it is alternator, but I am not sure. Periodically first thing in the morning when accelerating onto the freeway the battery light and i believe the brake light flicker on the dash. The car seems to run fine, and once at cruising speed of anywhere from 70-80 mph the problem goes away. I had a similar problem on an old ranger where the brushes were worn out, but it was not intermittent as the problem happened every day. Approx. 1 month ago the battery died and it was about 2.5 yrs old. So since putting a new on in we have not noticed the problem until today it happened again. Any thoughts on this?

The ground cable from the battery to the frame is a common problem on these cars.
