Air Intake
I just got a 2005 Dodge Stratus Sedan about 2.5 months ago. I have to say, its a huge step up from the 2000 saturn sl1 I had before.
I started to get sick of its stock look since I have seen a ton of cars that look the exact same since I purchased it. Anyway, I went on ebay to try and find some stuff to customize it a little but didn't have to much luck. One thing I did fine was a few different kits for the air intake. The one that gets my attention is this one:

I drive about 4000 miles a month. I drive about 3 to 3.5 hours a day. I see in the auction that it is supposed to increase horse power (which I don't mind but am not too worried about) but it also says that it helps on gas mileage.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Would it be worth while to do?

if it has a K&N filter...not a K&N-"style" filter, i would get it for 39 bucks. if you buy it, read the fine print, because some of those guys try to pass off cheap paper filters as K&N. on my RT, i have gained some power, and i get excellent mileage...i would venture to say that on a good day, i may get nearly as good of mileage as you do, and i have a CAI with a K&n filter...
Hopefully this isn't one of those stupid questions that no one should ask, but what all is entailed in installing one of these? I don't have many tools besides the usuall ones. Will I need to buy special equipment or other pieces besides this kit to install it?
I am a beginner on doing anything to a car. I usually stick to computers.

I installed a cai on my 02 and I know nothing about working on cars. All i had was a screw driver and a set of wrenches and the 1 sheet of instructions that came with my intake. To get the old one off and the new one one it took me about 45 minutes. The best advice I can offer up is don't tighten the clamps until everything is in place.
pvr, to install my CAI, which is much bigger than that one, and has like 5 pieces to it, took me a screwdriver and nothing else. hose clamps hold everything together, and there are a few places where you screw mounts into the fenderwell, but it is the same screwdriver that was used there, as well.
if you buy it, and need any help, you can ask anything here, and if you think it is a "dumb question", feel free to PM it to me...
like my prof used to say, the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked...were here to help.

Ice_Man, Did you have to do any modifications to get it to fit?
Is there any thing to worry about after exposing the air filter during the winter months?
And finally, I saw on another post something about resetting the computer so it will recognize the difference in the air intake. Is this something you need to do? If so, how.

Check out these pictures so I can make sure I did this right. In the first one you just see the engine. In the next ones you see me laying it out. I have a suspicion that the vacuum tube is on the wrong side of the pipe? Is this something that is going to interfere with the air flow?
Also, if it is the case, I got a vacuum tube that is way too small. I have contacted them about it but it is a weekend and will take a while for them to get back to me.

This short ram intake will probably get you a couple extra horsepower and possibly a couple MPG. Obviously it ain't going be anything too crazy but it can't hurt either. One mod though I've always been a huge fan of are MSD ignition boxes. They help your MPG go up by providing a stronger spark, thus burning all the unburnt fuel and providing more MPG. I personally think a MSD box is a better choice than an intake, but it's more expensive as well. Exhaust helps as well. Nothing can give you huge increase MPGs, but a combination of a few can be exactly what you're looking for. CAI installs are easy. Like what was already stated, use a screwdriver and it'll take 20 minutes at the most.
