A/C is broken on my 98 Stratus
This is just my luck... My A/C has been giving me issues for awhile now, and on one of the hottest months on record, it's blowing hot air. I purchased an A/C recharge kit. My uncle (auto mechanic) and I followed all the steps to the tee, and it seemed to work fine for the first fifteen to twenty seconds or so, then we noticed the car started to smoke. We looked around and noticed it was coming from the back of the low pressure charging port.
I know it's probably leak, but my uncle was saying with the big leak being that far back, it would be quite costly to fix it, up to $3000.
Could I possibly just use a leak repair kit or something?

Can't use leak repair stuff on AC systems. No worky and it will make things worse if you even find one to buy.
My advice would be to take it to an AC repair shop. Have them leak test it to pin point the link and give you an estimate for repair. 99% of shops out there give free estimates. If the compressor, clutch and condenser are all fine, it should not cost that much.
