engine upgrade?
So i got a plymouth Breeze as a everyday car. It has a 2.0 L and is Stick. I was looking for information on any engine upgrades on that engine or even a different engine i coud put in there. The engine it has, is lossing compression so i might just change it if worth it. So is there any other dodge engine i coud fit in there and keep the original mounts on there. I just replaced a engine on a eclipse so changin it woud be no problem i just havent talked to any knowledgable guy. Another question, Are the Breeze and Stratus the same?? Thanks all your input woud be very helpful
I'm almost positive other Stratus, breeze, or sebring motors will fit. The problem will most likely be whether or not the transmission bolts up to it. Also if you get a larger motor you may need the ECU for the new motor.
I dont know that all Stratus/Sebring motors will fit....as the Stratus Coupe is all Mitsubishi built as opposed to the Sedans which are all Dodge.
You could however look at the Dodge Avenger and the Plymouth Breeze's.... I know those are all pretty much identical under the hood.
Look up the specific year of your car and compare the engine specs to those of the said same cars......mainly look for the engine blocks and transmission types....
Also, as a final note, you could look into the PT Cruiser as well....as they used a 2.4L engine....I dont know if it was the same style available for the Stratus though.

You could put the 2.4 in, you would need the engine harness, ECM, engine obviously. You would have to replace it with an automatic. They didn't put a 5 speed on the 2.4L, aparantley the T350 5 speed couldn't handle the bigger engine. They would bolt up fine as the 2.0 and 2.4 use the same automatic trans.
Also the 2 door Sebring/Avenger are the same cars, they share almost no parts with the Breeze/Stratus/Cirrus cars.

A neon motor is the same 2.0 motor you have now same manual trany too. The 2.4L out of a Stratus, breeze or Cirus will bolt in with out much work, the best motor swap for this car by far. The 2.4L will bolt up to the manual trans you just have to upgrade the clutch, this has been done many time to 2.4L cloud cars, with very good results. The only reason it never came with a manual trany was there was no market for it.
