Default Trans code P0733 - limp mode

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum but a long time mopar owner.

I was hoping someone could help me with a transmission issue on my 1997 Stratus. The first code tripped is P0733. I’ll then get the code P0700. If I clear the codes and drive it again its fine until 3rd gear is auto or manual engaged. At this point the engine revs as if 3rd gear doesn’t exist and it drops back into 2nd and P0733 is tripped again. I suspect the trans may be toast but I just wanted some professional opinions. Could it be the solenoid pack, one of the sensors or maybe an electrical problem?

Thanks

codes p0733(gear 3 incorrect ratio), and p0700 (xmsn control syst. malf)
you can try replacing the xmsn solenoid but likely the gear 3 incorrect issue is an internal trouble

The solenoid pack is very easy to replace, and can probably be found cheaply at the local junkyard. If that fixes it, than fantastic. As Bad Venge says it could be internal too, but lets rule out the cheap easy fix first
