2.7 timming problem

Default 2.7 timming problem

have a 2004 stratus water pump was leaking bought new pump and thought why were ther should replace timming chain bought timming kit new chain gears tensioner drove about 2000 miles chain started slaping took it back to garage chain had stretched put new chain and tensioner now 3000 miles later same problem have oil pressure any ideas

Dude you want to get rid of that car quick anybody that had or has a 2.7 will tell you that those motors are junk.

Why are they junk mine has 130K on it? When is the timing chain due for service?

Try a new OEM tensioner and chain. The Aftermarket Tensioner are horrible.

I have the 2.7 as well with 140k and the timing is a complete nightmare just cuz the 3 chain system. The 2.7 is a crazy little engine but if you get to kno the engine they can be kinda cool but honestly the 3.0 option is the better motor.
