2003 Stratus 2.4L Oil Light
I have a 2003 Stratus with the 2.4L engine. With engine at normal operating temperature and when I am at a stop light and engine is at idle a little under 1k RPM's the oil light will come on. Once I rev the engine the oil light goes away. I took it to a shop and they hooked an oil pressure gauge to it and said the oil pressure is fluctuating and is saying the 2.4L engines had a sludge build up issue and suggested the motor needs to be replaced. The top end of the engine is clean, no signs of sludge. The oil pan has not been dropped yet to see if there is sludge in the pan.
I changed the oil in it, oil looked clean. I put 10w30 oil and put a bottle of lucas in it as well but the issue is still there.
Is it possible the oil pump is failing? I have looked online and not found anything regarding sludge build up in the 2.4 Engines, only the 2.7 Engines.

shop was wrong the 2.7 was the engine with the sludge problem, haven't heard of any 2.4L with sludge problems unless car wasn't taken care of properly.how many miles on car engine could be worn out ,oil pump weak or going bad,bad oil pressure switch
Car has 140k miles on it. I am thinking about hooking a gauge on it myself to check the pressure. If an oil pump is going bad can it have this type of symptom where at normal operating temp on idle pressure is low but higher RPM's pressure is normal?
What is the normal psi for this motor on idle?
