Default Mods While Re-building 2.4 SOHC

is common to remove balance shafts?
any problems with durability?
is there a better camshaft made for it?
better induction and exhaust?
anyone get much gains from porting?
is there a aftermarket company that specializes in these engines?
is it best to use the MOPAR head gasket?

If you use MOPAR anything youre getting parts for the wrong engine. You own a Mitsubishi 4G64, hit up your Mitsubishi dealer for parts.

If you want performance, drop a DOHC head off an Evo (4G63) and maybe turbo...

3" pipe is useless unless you go turbo, which couldnt be easier since everything from a 95-99 Eclipse will swap over, along with an EVO 8 till the newest. (2003+)

If you want sound, unbolt the muffler near the rear subframe, make a flange, and make a pipe that deletes the muffler and brings a straight pipe out. You still retain the 2 catalytic converters and resonators but gives it a deeper sound.

Default can't find new heat shields

will Eclipse parts work on my Dodge 2.4?

need heat shield for exhaust manifold, also possibly a new exhaust manifold/converter.
