Default 2004 dodge stratus

i have a 2004 dodge stratus 2.4L and i have gone through 3 camshaft positioning sensors. the car starts up fine and 50% of the time drives fine but sometimes the check engine light will come on and then you can't get the rpm over 2500or it starts to gets all jerky. if you have any ideas of what it might be let me know

what kind of sensor are you using are you using same brand every time ,what kind of code are you getting ,sometimes a bad crankshaft sensor can cause a camshaft error ,and the other way around

I'm not sure of the brand but they are from advanced auto. It is giving me a camshaft positioning failure code.

Default i had the same problem

I own a 2005 stratus sxt. And it was doing the exact same thing you mention. What i did was
1 went to autozone and bought a throtle cleaner
2. Notice there was a broken hose noticeable From the top view.
3. Notice a fuse from under the hood was burned. 20 amp blue.

And now its not doing it. But my cigarret lighter is always on and drains my battery in 6-8 hours. Its probably my battery im not sure. Good luck

Having the same trouble. Original sensor was good for 150000 miles, replacement was good for another 50000 miles, put in 4 different ones 3000 miles ago, 2 brands, and it is faulting again. I would like to find the root problem because this is getting old..

Check the wiring may have a bare or pinched wire.

Check the magnet . When you remove the camshaft there is a magnet in the engine. If its broken there is your problem. I had the same issue and the camshaft was the problem

Same story here on my '04.
I turn off the key and back on while driving
then it runs perfect for a week or ten minutes.
I also put it into neutral and kill the engine
then restart while coasting. Both work but aren't the cure.

I've also replaced the cam sensor, ignition pack, wires, etc.
chasing down this highly annoying and potentially dangeerous
condition.

Cheeeeeeeeeeaap

Update:
The situation went downhill fast and it acted up every drive.
I had an extra so replaced the cam sensor but also cleaned
n' waterproofed the connection. It's back to screaming and
I can't recreate the problem while driving!!!! Bonus.
Hopefully this will last. Rerouted a few wires, cleaned the cam magnet,
replaced a split vacuum line. Don't know which one helped as they all
got done at once without a test run.
