why is my timing belt noisy?
rebuilt engine about 2000 miles ago(rings,bearings,gaskets,oil pump,water pump,tensioner,valves,timing belt......), set the tensioner with tool and pulled the pin out.
i understand it regulated by oil pressure.

i must have tensioner's set to tight?

oil pressure to high ?

everything is stock, only thing i did different is eliminated the balance shafts.

The timing belt tensioner is set automatically. Its not regulated by oil pressure, its a stand alone unit. You could have gotten a faulty tensioner.

What kind of noise is it making?

 

it makes a high pitch whine , like the timing belt is too tight .

gets quieter when the engine warms up.
