Bypass AC serpentine belt?
Hi,
Does anyone know the length and number of ribs for a "no AC" belt in a 2004 Stratus 2.4L DOHC? The AC compressor pulley bearing wore out because some mechanic in the past (previous owner's) didn't bolt the compressor with all bolts which resulted in a misalignment of the pulley. Now I am looking at a 700+ repair. I don't care for the AC so I would rather save money. But I cannot find the length of such belt since all the Stratus cars 2001 to 2006 came with the AC. Anyone knowledgeable about it?

You can take one of those seamstress tape measures, you know, like the ones they use to measure around your waist and wrap it around and get a measurement, or wrap a string around and then measure the length. Beats waiting on someone to answer you on here.
I can't do it myself. Can't lift a car, I park on the street. Can at least sb tell me if the engines in the 2001 and 2004 (the 2.4L) are the same? I found a post where someone did it on the 2001 engine and says it needed a 43in 6 groove belt. I just need to know if it is the same one in my car.
Go to a website (factorychryslerparts or something) that sells the OEM parts. Look up the belts for your year and model and write the part number down. Look it up for the 2001 model and if the part number matches there you go. If not, try the same thing with the auto zone app or something. Look up the belt, write down the dimensions then switch cars and look it up again.
Also, the engines are fairly much the same. I have a 2006 2.4 Stratus. At a junk yard I found a 2000 Stratus 2.4. Both of the engine codes were EDZ. So I think you're safe in assuming that they're the same.
But if I recall, your car and my car have 2 belts. One for the alternator and vibration damper, the other for AC and power steering. The AC is the smaller one behind the vibration damper. You could just cut that belt so long as you're okay with no AC and power steering. You only need the big belt
