99 stratus won't start
i have a 99 stratus with a 2.5 v6 ,91000 mi on it the car was running great, then it shut off while i was driving, it restarted after about 20 minutes then i drove about a hour more ,stoped for gas then it would not start had it towed to the shop where the codes said fuel pump and distributor/ignition had them replaced with oem parts (big bucks) got the car back it ran great for about 10-12 miles when i stoped at the mall ,came out and it would not start again ,it crank's like it wants to start, iwaited about 20 mimutes to call a tow truck tryed one more time and it started so i drove it to the shop where it is, they are not getting any codes off the computer for anything being wrong does anyone have any ideas it sounds like a sensor thanks george
It could be a crank sensor but i would think there would be a code with it. when they looked at it last time did the attemp to recreate the problem or did they just go with the codes? It sounds as though it is something that is acting up when it's hot. If it does it when its been run for a while and then you let it cool for 20 minutes or so and it starts back up and runs good til you shut it off again.
i just talked to my brother in law he said they orignaly got a P0320 code calling for fuel pump and ignition , they think it a crank sensor or a cam sensor now but he can't find the locations of these sensors they were supposed to talk with a dealer late friday so i won't know till tommorrow if they found the locations thanks george
Well in that case it might not be the fuel pump...Do the Stratus' have Cluster? Anyhow the fuel pump could be giving...I would try that... the codes will show for all usually what is going. My neon did the same thing when it got hot. My gas gauge didnt work, I let it run out of gas a few times and it finally went out. Some ppl take the whole fuel pump mod out and just clean the in-tank filter but Id just replace the whole thing. Go w/ walbro cheaper then stockpump if they make em for the STRAT
p0320 is no crank reference signal at PCM. You need a crank sensor. Also for reference, the PCM does not always set a code for an absent crank or cam signal. Usually the only way it sets that code is when it cuts out while the engine is running.

ewww...perhaps they got the code wrong...if it reference what crone says then you definately need crank sensor...
Yup went through my codebook and p0320 is crank position sensor...REFERENCE
