I have an '04 Stratus SXT. When I'm going downhill with the cruise control on, the car will downshift and hold that gear until the road flattens out.
I'm assuming this is normal operation to add some engine braking. Interesting , but kind of a pain.
Will this downshifting negatively affect my mileage? Is there a way to defeat it?
