Default Code P0456 - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak)

Hi All,

New to this forum - I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus 2.7 l SE 4-DR and I have been chasing this for a long time and decided to post for some help - my Code P0456 comes on after a week or so. These are the items i have replaced:
  • OEM Purge Valve Solenoid - some videos on youtube stated that the connector on the valve can leak - so I directly connected the new vacuum hoses to the purge valve solenoid and removed the test port valve - just in case that may be have been leaking.
  • OEM Gas Cap - went back to the Carquest brand just to test if the light would come back on - plus it has a tighter fit....the code was reset today 12.15.2022.
  • Intake manifold hoses replaced and sealed
  • No smoke test yet
  • Cleaned the electrical connector to the leak detector pump - again no physical signs of cracked hoses - but that doesn't mean anything...
Question will the Vapor Canister FILTER cause the code? Checked the filler neck under the car no rust or any physical signs of rust or fuel odor
Let me know any other areas I may have missed - any tips would be helpful - I will report back any result after my reset today.

Thanks,
