Advice needed,1996 Dodge Stratus gauge cluster burnt up
Hello, I have had this old Stratus for a long time and it has been doing fine.Went to start it a couple of days ago and the battery was dead.I jumped started it ( started right up) I took the jumper cables off and it was sitting there running for about 4 minutes and the gauge cluster started smoking on the back side and I shut it off.. This happened just all of a sudden and I didn't have time to check anything!!. I pulled the gauge cluster out and one connector on the back side is burnt up.The other connector is fine. After this it would not start,,It just turns over but no start. My question is before I put in another cluster in it is'. Do y'all think the alternator is overcharging due to the bad battery or what do you think there is another issue??. I have never had any problems with this stratus, It's always been a decent car.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank y'all.
