Default Internals...Forged or Cast?

Im wondering if any of the internals of an 01 R/T are forged like the pistons, crank, connecting rods etc. Does any one know? How does this motor hold up to abuse?

information that i have states that the pistons are cast, and the rods are forged...but the site just said "6g72"...and didnt specify a year or application. it was on a 3000gt site, so it cant be much different, and i believe that they were talking about the 6g72TT, but if the stock pistons in a turbo motor were cast, i cant imagine that they would put better pistons in a NA motor. also, having done some reading around, the guys running big boost have changed the pistons and rods, but not the crank..evidently the crank will handle up to around "600hp"...which would lead me to believe that it is indeed forged, but im no ASE tech.

to check up on this, i wrote someone whom i know runs a large company which specializes in the 6g72 performance, and i believe that his has personal car has around 300whp...but he is developing a bigger setup for it...i will post what he sends me.

sorry for the double post, but i found out that the internals of the 6g72, while very strong, are cast, but the crank for the 6g72TT will fit.

i guess thats not to dissapointing. But the R/T motor actually has a reputation of being strong? Thats awsome.

yes..i have seen quite a few with forced induction...from what i have read, the "Weak point" is the pistons...but the companies who offer forced induction also offer piston upgrades. i have also seen some guys running pretty heavy nitrous shots on a stock engine, with an ECU upgrade.

one more off topic question does MSD Ignition sell anything for Stratus's. If so how are the results.

umm..i know that they have stuff for the 4 cylinders, and i am fairly sure that i have seen guys mention using something. if youre hunting for stuff, your best bet is to search for 3g eclipse stuff, especially GTS stuff, like the intake plenum, which is also the plenum from the 6g74.
