Default Cheapo Enhancements. Good or Bull?

So since (and even a little before) I purchased my strat Ive been poking around ebay for cheap and good enhancements. A couple wuickies I know Im going for are a CAI and a short antenna. But there are two things I keep seeing that have me wondering:

1. Those vortex generating metal "tornado" inserts for your intake pipe that glaim to give better gass millage and an increase in performance. These have been around forever. I remember them being on tv informercials years ago. Do these actually do antything?

2. Those el cheapo speed chips that trick your engine into thinking its always getting the best temp air. They claim rather large increases in horse power and no ill effects for about 20 bucks. I find this rather hard to believe. But hey. I could be wrong. Any opinions?

Also, anybody have any other recomendations on cheap and easy mods that make a real difference in performance ar aethetics on a daily driver 01 3.0 coupe?

Thanks

1. the tornado doesnt work. [:'(]

2. these 20 dollar "Speed chips" have shown gains on some vehcles, but the ecu in the 3.0s (and most other newer motors) "notice" the issue quick, and adjust to fix it.

as for the short antenna, i found out that hard way that alot of universal antennas dont fit the coupe. i do have one and im very happy with it, but make sure that if you buy it online, it specifies that it fits the coupe

Darn hyperintelegent cars heh. Thanks for the tip in the antenna. Do you remember where you got yours? Ive just been seeing them on ebay. And some of those guys my just say it fits the coupe and not have a clue. So a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Another thing I wanted to get was the headlight housings with the black interior. But they only seen to fit the sedans from what Ive seen. And I really dont feel like going through the bs of opening up my existing ones and messing with them.

As far as other things i know ive got to do to get her perfect:

- I have to change the front brakes very soon, at least one rotor is warped and those squeeler tips are getting on my nerves

-Have to polish out the existing headlights foginess (Horray for salty florida gulf coast air)

-Tough up paint on the divers side mirror housing

-Put some Mothers Back To Black on the outer black trim

-Get a nice dash cover to cover my cracks

Once thats done Ill probably put on a CAI and leave her at that. Unless anyone has any ideas for reasonably affordable aesthetic and under the hood mods. (im sure i wont be able to stop tweaking it, but shes my daily driver and i dont want to mod her into the scrapheap).

i must say, that i am intrigued by some of your "problems"...

-Tough up paint on the divers side mirror housing

-Put some Mothers Back To Black on the outer black trim

-Get a nice dash cover to cover my cracks
my mirrors are molded black plastic, what are yours?

where on the car do you have black exterior trim?

and your dash is cracked?

i will try to find out where the antenna came from, but i put it on right before winter when i packed the car up and started using my truck...but it does look MUCH better than that damn 10 foot whip antenna..as for the headlights...keep looking i KNOW that ive seen the "jdm style" black headlights on ebay...im positive of it...i prefer the chrome with the black eyelids, so that was the way that i went...pics in my gallery. and yes, the headlights can be taken apart and blacked out, but it sounds like a real pain in the ****.

My mirror apears to be aluminum. Or so it looks through the scratches.

Black trim is the stuff around the windows mostly.

Yeah dash is cracked in a few places. Ill probably replace it eventually but it not top on my priority list.

Ive seen a bunch of th JDM headlights but they all say stratus and sebring sedan and then say NOT for the sebring coupe, which leads me to believe they would not fit a stratus coupe either.

And yeah Ive seen thi pics of your car. Very nice!

Winter? what is this winter you speak of? Here we just have mosquetos the size of your arm and old people as far as the eye can see..heh.
